I have been a fan of ragtime, particularly the work of Scott Joplin, since I was 12 years old and heard Eubie Blake perform the "Maple Leaf Rag." I learned the piano for the express purpose of playing ragtime--a difficult feat since I have cerebral palsy. But for some reason, the syncopated rhythm of ragtime seems ideally suited to my spastic hands. My dream is to one day be good enough to perform at the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, MO. If you accept MIDI files from people, I would love to one day send you my own rendition of the Maple Leaf Rag, as well as my own compositions.
